At Families First we take our position in the Atlanta community very seriously. Through our Connecting Families Impact Area, we want to be sure that the programs and services we offer are helping to connect families to each other, to opportunities in the city and to resources that can help them adjust to new circumstances. We do this through four main areas.
Adoption & Foster Care
Families First believes that every child should have a safe, nurturing, life-long family to protect and guide them, but not all children in Georgia have this support. That’s why we provide services and other support services to ensure the long-term stability for children and youth who don’t currently have a lasting family connection.
Post-Adoptive Family Resources
At Families First we recognize that families need support when it comes to adoption. The Georgia Center for Resources and Support provides adoptive and foster families increased resources and supportive services to help reduce the incidence of disruption. The Reunion Registry helps adopted persons gain knowledge about their birth histories and to give birth families the opportunity to connect with their relatives separated by a Georgia adoption.
Families First uses resources to form genuine partnerships with communities, families and state agencies to better ensure lasing emotional, economic, housing and kinship support for our youth in ways that have proven to lead to greater, long-term self-sufficiency.
