The event will be held on March 18, 2010 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. Dining for a Difference has grown since its debut in 1999 into a premiere fundraising and awareness event attended by many of metro Atlanta's most influential community leaders. The event has raised over $2 million dollars over the years, enabling the agency to provide empowering and sustainable solutions that strengthen families.

Keynote speakers this year are Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, who will share the remarkable story of their relationship with the Baltimore Ravens' Michael Oher, whom they met when he was 15 and homeless, and later legally adopted. Their amazing story is the subject of the book and movie, The Blind Side, filmed partially in Atlanta. In addition, the Champion and Humanitarian awards will be presented to deserving recipients who have made selfless commitments to children in need.

This year, Dining for a Difference will honor a community leader whose dedication and generosity help to further our agency's mission. We will also honor one family or individual who has helped a child or children overcome adversity and succeed in building strong and healthy relationships with family and community.

In addition, Dining for a Difference awards three young adults with educational scholarships. The Carol Dunlap Reiser Scholarship Program provides educational support funds to two young women participating in Weaver Gardens, a transitional housing program for young homeless mothers aged 17-26. The funds may be used for tuition, training, books, child care or other needs. The Karen Sibley scholarship benefits the post secondary education of children who are former residents of Families First's foster homes.
