Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The staggering pace of change in our society and the unprecedented need to juggle work and family life places many people under tremendous stress. For some, this stress contributes to potentially serious problems such as substance abuse, depression or family conflict. Personal crises of this nature can significantly hinder job performance.

Families First Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has been providing confidential counseling to thousands of employees at businesses and other organizations since 1963. The EAP benefit provides free counseling to employees and their immediate family members for personal or emotional problems. In addition, Families First trains and consults with supervisors to help them recognize when an employee may need referral to the EAP.

EAP provides short-term counseling, preventive education and referral services to assist our client company employees in resolving personal problems before the workplace becomes disrupted and careers are jeopardized.

Problems most commonly seen in the EAP include:

  • Marital & family issues
  • Alcohol and drug abuse
  • Emotional problems such as stress or depression
  • Child & adolescent issues
  • Need to improve coping skills
  • Aid in enhancing communication skills
  • Legal and financial referrals
