On any given day in America, nearly 500,000 children live in foster care. About 9,300 of them right here in Georgia.
Too often these children experience isolation and uncertainty, their lives burdened by constantly changing schools, friends, families and circumstances. Disconnected from their relatives, culture and communities, they yearn for stability. It is no surprise that those who grow up in the foster care system tend to fare poorly when compared to other children. They are more likely to become homeless. More likely to enter the prison system. More likely to experience post-traumatic stress disorder. But it doesn't have to be this way.
Families First is excited and proud to be a participating partner in Raise Me Up - a bold, multimedia campaign designed to help raise awareness and inspire action on behalf of children in foster care across America. Raise Me Up calls attention to the real differences individuals can make in the lives of children simply by getting involved.
Raise Me Up offers real opportunities to make real differences in the lives of children in foster care. It connects individuals like you who are willing to help with community organizations in Georgia that need the help. When dedicated individuals and communities get involved, chances improve that children in foster care will grow into healthy, happy and thriving adults.
